How to apply for the treatment program?

First of all you should have been diagnosed by your eye specialist as being a patient suffering from retinitis pigmentosa.

Then you just send an email to our medical consultants (info@retinitis-pigmentosa.com) or fill in this form. Our consultants Tony Barciela and Ileana Reyes will compile all necessary information about your case and present it to the medical board of the Camilo Cienfuegos Center. The board will decide whether the patient will be accepted or not. Tony and Ileana will also provide you with all practical information like the costs of the treatment, and the requirements for travel to Cuba.

The treatment requires 21 days of hospitalization. The first week consists of tests in preparation of the treatment. In the beginning of the second week there is an operation on the eye. The next 2 weeks are for recuperation of this surgery and to begin with the ozone and electro-magnetic treatment. On leaving the hospital the patient is instructed on how to proceed with the therapy at home by medication and electro-magnetic sessions.

It is recommended for a patient to bring a companion. His or her lodging and alimentation are included in the price.
The stay at the Camilo Cienfuegos Center can be combined with touristic visits to Havana and its surroundings, especially the 3rd week of the treatment. The center is located in the heart of the Vedado district in Havana. There are many restaurants around if patients and companions want something else then the daily hospital kitchen.

Most patients that did the treatment consider their time at the Camilo Cienfuegos Center as being a bit long and dull but after all the turning point in their lives. From that day on they found back the sense that they controll their lives, and that their disease can be fought back.
